²⁶ There were four Levites who held the office of chief gatekeepers. They were responsible for the chambers and the treasuries of the temple of the Lord. ²⁷ They would spend the night stationed around the temple of God because they were responsible for it, and then they would open it each morning.

²⁸ Some of them were responsible for the vessels used in the liturgy, and they would count them when they were brought in and taken out.
